First thanks to HannaReads for tagging me! Secondly, this will be difficult.
As if this tag isn’t challenging enough, I will limit myself to the books I’ve read in 2018 so far which is around 30 books (well done me!). Because, you know, you can always make the challenge more difficult for yourself if you only give it a try. It doesn’t take a lot. Really, it doesn’t. For the full list of 2018 reads so far check out my GoodReads challenge.
Best Actor:
(Best male protagonist)
There is not much competition here…
🏆 Kaz Brekker from Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo
Fan art by Merwild
Best Actress:
(Best female protagonist)
There was some competition, but after some consideration, it’s a clear winner…
🥇 Aster from An Unkindness of Ghosts by Rivers Solomon
Photo of Rivers Solomon with her book is taken from PowerNotPity
Best Cinematography:
(Best plot twist)
I mean the plot twists of all plot twists..!
🏅 Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
Best Costume Design:
(Best book cover)
👑 Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi
Just look at it! It’s so pretty and awesome!
Best Supporting Actress and Actor:
(Best Male and Female Sidekick)
I’m surprised at the lack of funny sidekicks in my books so far this year. The winner didn’t have a prominent role in the book I read. They had a bigger role in the first book of the series, but their cheekiness is still the same and I found myself laughing out loud!
🏆 Ari and Janco from Poison Study series by Maria V Snyder
Why is there no fanart of these two characters????? why??? Can someone get on this, please? Much appreciated. Thanks.
Best Original Screenplay:
(Most Unique Plot/World)
Of all the books I’ve read in 2018, there have been several amazing worlds and plots but there is only one which stands out. Only one book which combines the unique plot with the unique world…
🥇 The Power by Naomi Alderman
Best Adapted Screenplay:
(Best book-to-movie adaptation)
I have a choice between four books here that have been adapted into movies. I have only seen one of them… So the choice is easy.
🏅 The Princess Bride by William Goodman
Best Animated Feature:
(A book that would work well in animated format)
Again there is only one book from my list I can imagine in an animated format. It’s weird how some books just doesn’t fit being animated.
👑 His Majesty’s Dragons by Naomi Novik
Best Director:
(A writer you discovered for the first time)
AAh! There is too many!
🏆 Holly Black. Nnedi Okorafor. Tomi Adayemi. Rivers Solomon. Rainbow Rowell. S A Chakraborty. Leigh Bardugo.
The choice is too hard. I cant chose…
Best Short Film:
(Best Novella or Short-Book)
I only read one novella so far this year so the decision is easy.
🥇 Assassin Study by Maria V Snyder number 1.5 in the Poison Study series.
Best Picture:
(Best Stand-Alone)
No competition here…
🏅 An Unkindness of Ghosts by Rivers Solomon (Review here)
Best Documentary:
(Best historical fiction)
I haven’t read any historical fiction this year. I have however read two autobiographies, which I would deem worthy of the Best Documentary award.
