What is My TBR in-depth? It’s a feature I’m having on my blog 🤗 I do not know if anyone else has something similar (if you do let me know!), but I’ve named mine My TBR in-depth and it’s all about having a closer look at your TBR. Maybe I’ll give someone an idea of a book they want to try. Or maybe I’ll get a TBR cleanout done.
Every other Monday I will post a list of books currently on my Want to Read (GoodReads) list or TBR (owned books), and every post has a theme. Next post theme is mentioned at the bottom of this post. Join in if you like with the hashtag my-tbr-in-depth and tag me so I can see what you have on your list 😊
This is the first in the series!!
This week it’s time for those YA/MG Series I Will Never Start books on my Want To Read (GoodReads) list! It’s a GoodReads Clean-out!
Let’s go!
Books I’m Removing From My TBR #👋
1. Winner’s Trilogy by Marie Rutkoski
Sorry. I’m just never going to get to this one. It sounds really good, and I’ll probably like it. But I’ll just never get to it. I have to be realistic.
2. The Selection by Kiers Cass
Same reason as for The Winners Curse, but I’m less reluctant to let this one go than The Winners Curse. I’m not sure I would have like this one.
3. Lux by Jennifer L Armentrout
I’ve heard good things about Jennifer L Armentrout’s writing and I will at some point read something by her. But it won’t be the Lux series.
4. Red Sister by Mark Lawrence
I put this on my TBR when I first came out which is not that long ago, but I have completely lost interest. There are so many other books I’m way more excited for. I’m leaving this behind.
(Edit: Just because it takes place on a boarding school doesn’t mean its YA, Ivy! This is very much not YA its Adult fantasy. Apologies. Still, I won’t get to it)
5. Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan
It’s fairly new, but it’s not something I’ll get too in the book world. I’ll just watch the movie… It looks good.
As a bookdragon, I’m not sure how I feel about myself saying “I’ll just see the move” but that’s a whole other blog and probably hours with a therapist…
6. Magyk by Angie Sage
Again I’ve heard good things but I’ve lost interest in this. Moving on!
7. Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer
I was never really interested in this book when it came out, but over the years it has always been recommended to me by friends. I have now decided it’s just one of those series everyone else will love and I’ll just pass on. I’m done. Thanks. Bye. Next!
8. Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins
I would probably like the first book, but down the line of the series I’m not sure. I don’t think I would ever finish it. So why start? Bye!
9. Under The Never Sky by Veronica Rossi
This has been on the GoodReads shelf for years. I don’t even know what it is about. I know the author, but the book has to go.
10. Uglies by Scott Westerfeld
Promising idea, but I’ll pass thanks.
11. Divergent by Veronica Roth
Just Nope…
12. Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater
I’m a little reluctant to give this up. I’ve already saved it twice just writing this post, lol. But I have to realistic. I’ll never get to it. It’s a fact.
13. The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan
What are you doing Ivy?!?! I know! Im sorry! 😐
But. As much as I love Percy Jackson et al., The Trials of Apollo is a series I will never get to. I never even finished The Heroes of Olympus Series…
14. Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch
In theory, I should have already started this book. It’s right up my alley. But when I came to it on my Want To Read list I had zero interest. Sorry, but you’ll have to go.
15. The Bronze Horseman by Paulina Simons
Ive heard negative things about the romance in this trilogy which makes me completely and utterly disinterested. Not even sorry.
16. The Blackhart Legacy by Liz de Jager
It sounds promising, but I know I will never get to it.
17. The Falconer by Elizabeth May
I almost bought this the other day, but I put it back thinking “not right now”. Which means I’ll probably never get to it.
18. Talon by Julie Kagawa
I like Julie Kagawa’s writing style and stories in general, but after His Majesty’s Dragon by Naomi Novik I’m fed up with dragon tales. Sorry, I’m just not interested.
19. The Ascendance Trilogy by Jennifer A Nielsen
I don’t know. I won’t ever get to this, like ever.
20. Bloodlines by Richelle Mead
I’m a bit fed up with Vampire stories too so this is a nope.
That’s all the series I’ve removed from my Want To Read GoodReads shelf knowing I will never get to them or feel inclined to start them. There is constantly new and exciting stuff coming out and I can only read so much.
Sorry, not sorry.
Did I list your favourite series? I mean no offence, I’m just not interested.
Next time I’ll be listing all the older YA/MG series I will try but I have not yet gotten to.
Stay tuned 😁
Some good series there, need to start some of them myself.

I have a few things on my own TBR that I know I’m never going to get to… I just can’t bring myself to admit defeat! I did like Magyk, but I can’t say it set anything on fire for me… I don’t think you’re missing much

Yeah I’ve met the end of the road for these. I’m more attached to the book I own physically copies of so it’s harder to let them go. But these I’ve given up on. Thanks 😊

honestly most of these series, you’d be better off reading something better. i do, however, really love the bloodlines series bc sydney sage is a bamf

Exactly. If I ever get the vampire cravings, I’ll go back to it. Thanks😊

I’ve read the Snow Like Ashes series, and while I enjoyed the first book, it went downhill from there so I don’t think you’re missing out on anything by dropping it. I’ve actually decided to drop a few of the same series too, like The Selection, Hex Hall, and Uglies to name a few.
Good luck with the Goodreads shelf clean-out!

Yeah there comes a time when you just think its pass their time and you let them go. And if you are doing it too it probably means it’s definitely their time to go. Thanks! Cleaning is hard work lol.

You’re brave! I can’t even look at my TBR pile without cringing 🙂

Thanks 💪 😂 I’ve basically been cringing for too many years and I’ve had enough.

This looks interesting! You included Divergent tho, that was my first dystopian book and I cried bucket of tears in Allegiant. It took me a year probably to even talk about it. Anyway, I want to know why you won’t give it chance? 🙂

Yeah I guess it’s an unpopular opinion. But I’m a big fan of lyrical writing and divergent is anything but. Several of my friends who knows my book likes and dislikes have told me to not read it cause I would just get annoyed. 🤷♀️ what can I do. 😂 I’m a picky reader 😁 I might watch the movies as some point but there is always new and exiting books coming out that I’ll rather read.

I understand! 🙂 Most of your no-nos are same as mine. I tried reading Snow like Ashes because my friend has been raving about it, but I just did not get to reading it. Lol. And I did not like The Selection Series as much as the majority did. Is something wrong with me? 😂

😂 there is probably something wrong with everyone. We all have at least one unpopular opinion.
