Due to my success on the read-EH-thon last week, wrap-up blog here, I thought “I can ace another one”. So I found another three… š³Ā not at the same time but in a row š I will do a separate blog post for each but in short, I’ll be doing the Biannual Bibliothon 14-20th July, 24in48 21-22nd July and then the 7in7 23-29th July. But let’s focus on one thing at a time š¤š
The Biannual Bibliothon is as the title says a biannual (twice a year) readathon, one in winter and one in summer. This is the summer version (for me at least).
The readathon has a lot of social media challenges like Instagram and youtube but also reading challenges and a group book. I will try all the reading challenges, some of the Instagram challenges and some of the blog challenges, all depending on what they are.
Let’s have a closer look š
Readathon Facts
DATES: 14th July to 20th July
READING CHALLENGES: 7 reading challenges. You can double up but not triple.
INSTAGRAM CHALLENGES: one each day. I’ll try and do several of them, but we’ll see.
BLOG CHALLENGES: one each day. I think I’ll do some of these too, but again we’ll see when they are announced.
Reading Challenges
You can double up on challenges but not triple up. I have double up on only one book. The full explanation of the book along with their GoodReads synopsis can be found below.
Let’s look at the challenges first.
Read the group book
Wicked Deep– I honestly have no interest in this book so I won’t be reading this.
Read a book from someone else’s TBR
- Scythe – Neal Shusterman
Read the first chapter to three books and choose one
- When Dimple meet Rishi – Sandhya Menon
- The Thief – Megan Whalen Turner
- The Twistrose Key – Tone Almhjell
Read a book that has been on your TBR for over a year
- Gossip Girl – Cecily von Ziegesar
Read a predicted 5-star book
- Trail of Lightning – Rebecca Roanhorse
Own voices book – but not your own
- Trail of Lightning – Rebecca Roanhorse
Read the last book you purchased
- We Should All Be Feminist – Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
Of all of those there are four main reads which are explained in detail below, and three maybe’s. I won’t know which of the try a chapter challenge book I will end up reading before I try that first chapter. Should be exciting to see.
Let’s have a look at the main four book in detail.
Main Physical TBR
Trail of Lightning
Pages: 304p
GoodReads: While most of the world has drowned beneath the sudden rising waters of a climate apocalypse, Dinétah (formerly the Navajo reservation) has been reborn. The gods and heroes of legend walk the land, but so do monsters.
Maggie Hoskie is a DinĆ©tah monster hunter, a supernaturally gifted killer. When a small town needs help finding a missing girl, Maggie is their lastāand bestāhope. But what Maggie uncovers about the monster is much larger and more terrifying than anything she could imagine.
Maggie reluctantly enlists the aid of Kai Arviso, an unconventional medicine man, and together they travel to the rez to unravel clues from ancient legends, trade favours with tricksters, and battle dark witchcraft in a patchwork world of deteriorating technology.
As Maggie discovers the truth behind the disappearances, she will have to confront her pastāif she wants to survive.
Welcome to the Sixth World.
We Should All Be Feminists
Pages: 52p
GoodReads:Ā A personal and powerful essay from Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, the bestselling author of āAmericanahā and āHalf of a Yellow Sunā, based on her 2013 TEDx Talk of the same name.
What does āfeminismā mean today? That is the question at the heart of We Should All Be Feminists, a personal, eloquently-argued essay ā adapted from her much-viewed Tedx talk of the same name ā by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, the award-winning author of āAmericanahā and āHalf of a Yellow Sunā. With humour and levity, here Adichie offers readers a unique definition of feminism for the twenty-first century ā one rooted in inclusion and awareness. She shines a light not only on blatant discrimination, but also the more insidious, institutional behaviours that marginalise women around the world, in order to help readers of all walks of life better understand the often masked realities of sexual politics. Throughout, she draws extensively on her own experiences ā in the U.S., in her native Nigeria ā offering an artfully nuanced explanation of why the gender divide is harmful for women and men, alike. Argued in the same observant, witty and clever prose that has made Adichie a best-selling novelist, here is one remarkable authorās exploration of what it means to be a woman today ā and an of-the-moment rallying cry for why we should all be feminists.
Gossip Girl by Cecily von Ziegesar
Pages: 201p
GoodReads:Ā Welcome to New York Cityās Upper East Side, where my friends and I live, go to school, play, and sleepāsometimes with each other.
S is back from boarding school, and if we arenāt careful, sheās going to win over our teachers, wear that dress we couldnāt fit into, steal our boyfriendsā hearts, and basically ruin our lives in a major way. Iāll be watching closely . . .
You know you love me,
gossip girl
Scythe by Neal Shusterman
Pages: 448p
GoodReads:Ā A dark, gripping and witty thriller in which the only thing humanity has control over is death.
In a world where disease, war and crime have been eliminated, the only way to die is to be randomly killed (“gleaned”) by professional scythes. Citra and Rowan are teenagers who have been selected to be scythes’ apprentices, and despite wanting nothing to do with the vocation, they must learn the art of killing and understand the necessity of what they do.
Only one of them will be chosen as a scythe’s apprentice and as Citra and Rowan come up against a terrifyingly corrupt Scythedom, it becomes clear that the winning apprentice’s first task will be to glean the loser.
The main TBR is just 1000pages…š±Ā then on top of that, there will be the try a chapter book which could be anything from 280 and 378pages…
I thought the read-EH-thon was tough with 1112pages…
This will be similar and ill be working full time… and trying to buy a house…
But a readathon is meant to be a challenge right? so I might as well give myself one š
What I definitely know is that I’ll start Saturday morning with Trail of Lightning. I am so incredibly absorbingly irrevocably exited for this book.
*breathe*
*relax*
Basically, I will put this on my nightstand on Friday night and start it before I even get out of bed. Planed!
Anyone else joining the Biannual bibliathon?
Have any of you done any readathons so far this year? How did you do? Did you enjoy it?
Awesome TBR! I’m participating as well, I just put up my TBR too! Hopefully we both do well.

Good luck with your TBR! I have Scythe on my TBR as well (even though it’s for the Try a Chapter, so I might not end up reading it) š I will also not be reading the group book as I’m not really interested in it as well!
