I read 11 books in September including participating in contemporary-a-thon which was a hoot!
In consideration to my TBR, I finished all the “Need to Finish Already” reads. I also managed to read one of my ARCs and I started the second one but I got bored so I’ve put that on hold for now.
I’ve not listed all the books I read during contemporary-a-thon as they already have a wrap-up post, but I’ve linked it down below ๐
As a reminder:
- 5 ivy leaves is an amazing book that stuck with me, surprised me, one I could stop thinking about, I got lost in, etc.
- 4 ivy leaves is an enjoyable read something Iย really liked, but that’s it.
- 3 ivy leaves are either a disappointing read, or the book is just OK.
- 2 ivy leaves are a disliked read
Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor
Physical book – Library
The Story:ย Lazlo Strange is an assistant librarian dreaming of the forgotten city of Weep when delegates of Weep appear in the city recruiting the wisest among them.
My Opinion:ย I wrote a full review here, but in short I loved this book but not as much as I was hoping for.
Rebel Hearts (Dust Lands #2) by Moira Young
Physical book – Library
The Story: Saba is reunited with her brother but separated from Jack. Struggling to deal with what she has done and the changes in her brother, she makes a run for it to fix it. Obviously, things don’t really go to plan, for anyone.
My Opinion:ย I love this series! I love these characters! I’m still struggling with the written languages in these so the last one in the series will be on audiobook and it’s happening before the end of the year ๐ค
The Last Namsara by Kristen Ciccarelli
Audiobook – Owned
The Story:ย This book follows Asha a dragon hunter and the daughter of the dragon king as she tries to fight of the betrothal’s iron grip and power-hungry lust. At the same time, her brother is doing something strange for himself only.
My Opinion: I wrote a full review here. In short, this story annoyed me. No, that’s not right. The story was fine, it was the characters that annoyed me. A lot!
Fight Like A Girl by Clementine Ford
ARC & Physical book – Owned
The Story:ย A mix of a memoir and an opinion, this feminist manifesto dives into the way the western world sees women and judges them accordingly. And it focuses a lot on rape culture.
My Opinion: I did a full review and gush here with a lot of quotes and stuff. I loved it!! โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ
Contemporary-a-thon
I participated in the contemporary-a-thon from the 17th to the 23rd and you can find my wrap-up blog and opinions hereย ๐
ย The Caged Queen by Kristen Ciccarelli
ARC – NetGalley
The story:ย I don’t know why I read this. I wasn’t a big fan of book 1. But I did have access to book 2 and I wanted some dragon stuff. too bad there weren’t any dragon in here…
My Opinions: I did a full review here. In short, I still don’t really like this series even though the endings are good. I need to stop putting myself through this.
That’s it! Have you read any of these?
