It’s NaNoWriMo People!! I’m so excited!! I’ve been prepping since the beginning of September and I had this story idea in January so its been a long time coming!
Even though I will spend most of my time writing and writing is my priority this month, I do have a few books I need to get to in November. I don’t know when or how, but they will be read. Somehow.
Also, there is Lalathon happening from 1st to 9th November, which I can’t just not be a part of. I mean I just have to be there! I’ve seen her live on Instagram several times when she was joking about it. It’s fun and it’s finally happening.
Announcement video for LALAthon here, and her favourite books video here.
Again the link for each book title brings you to their GoodReads page where you can read more about the book if you fancy.
Enjoy!
For LALAthon
Love Beyond body Space and Time edited by Hope Nicholson – ย a collection of sci-fi and urban fantasy short stories by indigenous authors focusing on LGBT and two-spirited characters. When I first saw Lala talk about this book I got it straight away thinking amazing things. I also though its short enough for a readathon, and here we are…
The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater – We all know Lala love this series and I’ve had my eyes on it for years but never really gotten to it. Now is my chance!
Because of NaNoWriMo these two books are my minimum TBR for LALAthon, but I do have several other books which I could pick up if I have the time, but writing is a priority, not reading.
Need To Read ASAP!
Small Island by Andrea Levy – this is Octobers book club pick for Black History Month in the office I work in. It’s a novel centred around the Windrush generation and the post-war environment in the UK. It’s very topical here in the UK atm so I’m very excited to read it. I helped organise this book club and host it so I have to read it. Our book club meeting is currently set to 20th November, but we are looking to postpone it, so I might have more time.
Books From my Read Harder Challenge (last sprint)
Selfish, Shallow and Self-absorbed edited by Meghan Daum – an essay anthology about not wanting to have children. I personally don’t want kids. I know I might change my mind, and I know a lot of people will not change their minds on this subject. I hope I can get some insight into why people have chosen to not have kids from this book. I think an essay anthology will be nice to read along with my writing, and I do prefer to read nonfiction when I write as its less intrusive on my brain.
Have you read any of these? What did you think?
What’s on your October TBR?
I hope you enjoy The Raven Boys! It truly is a wonderful read. Hope you have a good reading month!

I don’t have a ton of stuff on my November TBR either because I’m also doing NaNo! Just some review requests, a book club book, and an ARC to finish up. ๐ Good luck with NaNo!
