we are over halfway …
I’ve still got steam, and I’m still ahead of the word count. But I can see the end now and it makes me nervous I do not have enough material to make it to 50k.
My friend at work asked me what it felt like to see the end; “Is it like the light at the end of the tunnel?” I thought about it for a while and I have come to the conclusion it’s more like running a sprint, and you know there is one person ahead of you (Mx. 50k), you don’t know where they are but you really want to catch them before the finish line (30th November). Then you run around a bend and there they are just ahead of you with the finish line just on the horizon. It urges you to run faster. That increase in adrenaline is what it feels like. That’s what if feels like to me to see the end. strained muscles, nervous in case you don’t make it, but it’s within reach and within sight.
I know it shouldn’t be like this before next week, but the feeling has hit home early. I think that finish line I can see on the horizon is just a trick of the eye, like heat rising from the pavement or something.
The goal is to write 50 000 words in 30 days from 1st November to the 30th November. It can be whatever you want to write, but I did the classic and started the 1st chapter of my new novel 🤗
I’m currently on chapter 12.
I felt last weeks synopsis was a bit boring and I felt I had to explain myself several times. This week I will, therefore, share with you the synopsis I have on my NaNo page which I wrote in October when I was really excited about it and not nervous at all;
When Jacqueline Augustina Shaw, Captain of the Belladonna, wants revenge on her mentally abusive parents she takes a precarious task of transporting a special cargo across the seven isles. The good thing is, she excels at special trading. The bad news is, she’s currently 8th on the special traders’ list and her father is first. This job though will give her the last remaining points needed to climb up, and above, her fathers corrupt company. She hopes it will anyway.
Along with her best friend, and cook, Cora and her second in command, Kin, and the rest of the misfit crew on the Belladonna, Jac sets off island-hopping.
Turns out this cargo is a bit more demanding than her average spacial cargos. Not only that, but someone doesn’t want her to finish the job.
Did she bit off more than she could chew? Because shortcuts are never short.
I have yet to start my Sunday session, but yesterday I wrote just over 4.5k which was really good. I had a weekend plan of writing 6k so now I only have 1.5k left. Though I will try and get as close to 40k as I can and hopefully I’ll reach it on Wednesday.
This is how my bullet journal word count tracker is currently looking. I colour in a new box for every 1k I write. There are 49 boxes. When I hit 50k I will ink in and colour the sparkling stars you could barely make out.
This is my NaNo gem 💎 😂
There has been no change since last week. I have noticed that on the days a work I get sorer in my fingers so I have tried to not write too much during Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays. that leaves me with Wednesdays, Saturday and Sundays to catch up and write more to start the new week by being ahead.
I have no major pains. Well, not more than usual anyway.
I’m good 👍
Word by word. Not day by day.
Happy writing and happy reading!
