Earlier this year I did a goal post for 2018, and this is my review of those goals for 2018.
In short, these were my goals for 2018:
READING GOALS 2018:
Complete BookRiot’s ReadHarder Challange 2018
Read 60 books
Read more than 18,000 pages (not including audiobooks)
Finish more series
Review
Read Harder Challenge 2018: Success!! I managed it just by finishing the last book on New Year’s Eve! I feel a tradition coming on as I did the same thing last year – finish the last book on New Year’s Eve. I did a full summary review post here or all the books and all the prompts. It was a lot of fun, but I did end up reading whatever I wanted and later figure out if any of those books fitter the challenge instead of finding a book specifically for that challenge. Though, In Cold Blood and a few others were picked specifically for the challenge.
Read 60 Books: Smashed it! This was my GoodReads challenge this year and I reached 60 books in August 😱 over the last three years I have only read around 40 books. So for 2018, I thought I would challenge myself with 60 books thinking it would be a stretch. Then I started my book blog and my reading has gone throught the roof. I’ve ended 2018 by reading 111 books! I love this challenge and I will definitely continue with it into 2019.
Read more than 18,000 pages: This challenge was part of the GoodReads challenge just to make sure I didn’t pick the smallest books just to fulfil the 60 books goal. I shouldn’t have worried and I don’t see the need for both of these challenges together. I will not continue with this challenge in 2019.
Finish more series: I had this as a challenge for 2018 because I tend to pick up the first book in the series and not continuing even though I loved the first book. I have a weakness for the first book in a series apparently. I did success somewhat this year by finishing series I had already started, but that didn’t stop me from starting more series. This year I finished series like I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore, Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas, Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard, Poison Study by Maria V Snyder, and Ravneringene by Siri Pettersen. I also started and finished three series; Modern Faerietales by Holly Black, Paradigm Trilogy by Ceri A Lowe, and Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. However, I started and did not finish over 20 series…!
I have mixed feeling about the outcome of this goal.
Yes, I completed series that have been on my list for a while, but I didn’t stop myself from starting new series. It also made me look hard at the series I had going and decide if I wanted to continue or not.
I will try and continue with this goal. I have already set a few series goals in my Ultimate Home Made Reading Challenge, so I should get some done. Those challenges are a lot more specific too.
That’s it for my challenges.
How did you do in 2018?
I hardly ever hear anybody completing that book riot reading challenge so huge kudos to you! It also looks like you had a great reading year, congrats!
