WWW Wednesday – 6th March

I have gone over my 4 books t a time limit… again…

Welcome to my WWW Wednesday meme post, originally hosted by Taking in a World of Words. This post is a way for me to organise my reading and be in control of my TBR. All I need to do is answer the three questions below which all start with a W.

The three W’s are

  1. What are you currently reading?
  2. What did you recently finish reading?
  3. What do you think you’ll be reading next?

What are you currently reading?

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo – just started the audiobook for this and I’m really enjoying it. I loved Six of Crows last year and I love being back 🤗 I listen to this walking to and from work. I shouldn’t have started it, but I like living on the edge…

A Gathering of Shadow by V. E. Schwab – I looked into the series I started in 2015 & 2916 last month and I have now decided to pick up A Darker Shade of Magic. I’m 150 pages in and loving it!

Boneless Mercies by April Genevieve TucholkeOn Hold! – I started this before A Gathering of Shadows thinking I’ll quickly read it and review it and it’s out of the way. Problem is; the author has taken Norwegian people names, place names and words and used them directly or by changing one letter e.g. they live in Vorse land -> change the V to N and you have Norse, some people worship Obin which is one letter from Odin, someone’s from Finnmark which is an actual Norwegian country in the far north. If there was only a handful of these it would have been fine, but there are so many and its really pissing me off. It feels like a cheap shortcut and I’m considering DNF’ing it, but it is an ARC and I’m 30% through. What do you think?

A-Z of Gender and Sexuality by Morgan Potts –  This is my other non-fiction book. It’s a reference book with words, terms and everything in between listed with explanations from a to z. I’m currently on “C” and “cisgender”. I’m quite enjoying this and learning a lot.

Sapiens; A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah HarariOn Hold! – Oh guess what! it went back to the library I only read 20 pages! well done me… I’ve requested it again now tho. It’s an ebook so it’s not as if I walk back and forths to the library with the same book, and I can’t extend it because someone else has it on hold.

What did you recently finish reading?

Freshwater by Akwaeke Emezi – I read this for book club and really enjoyed it. I love the fact that the book is narrated from the main character other personalities and the cultural explanations of her mental state and gender dysphoria. It was fascinating 🙂

What do you think you’ll be reading next?

Probably A Conjuring of Light or something 🙂

    1. I’m almost halfway through and liking it so far. But I loved Six of Crows duology and Leigh Bardugos writing so I was bound to like it. I hope I continue to like it 😁 but I will let you know!
