#SixForSunday – 9th June- Characters who need their own/another story

This Sunday tag is created and run by Steph over at A Little But A Lot. There are some very interesting and fun prompts coming up this spring so check it out. Today’s topic is characters I believe need their own or another story. Someone I want to know more about, or I enjoy their narrative so much I can never have enough.

Let’s dive into the list of my 6 Characters who need their own or another story

Valerie for Holly Black’s The Modern Fairytales

I didn’t get enough of my favourite female warrior of all time in just ONE book! was very disappointed when she didn’t appear in book 3. I wanted more of her badassery, shaving her head, not caring about what she looked like and just general fighting the world and saving her Prince Charming which actually is a green-skinned troll (spoilers😳).

Nesta from Sarah J Maas’ ACOTAR series

I believe she is already getting her own story but I still feel she needs to be on here. Nesta is hurting and I need to know why, and that she will be OK. I want her to go on quests/adventure to figure out who her new self is and where she fits into this new life, and what to do with it. I feel Cassian will have a feature role in this, probably as a punching bag 😂

Any of the Disney Princesses

I know there have already been several retelling of a standard Disney story but I just want more, and more alternative.

Something like an alternative Little Mermaid who escapes the sea due to it being too stereotypical and she is alternative. The sea focuses on beauty and dressing/behaving/speaking according to your gender, while she would be more focused on body art and art in general and exploring alternative measures. It would be about loving yourself for who you are and don’t allow your self to be peer-pressured into making yourself fit into society. You do you.

Or like a transgender Mulan and a gay romance with Li Shang. That would be awesome. I know it has had its rounds on twitter but I really like the idea of queer Disney. I would be about finding yourself and accepting yourself for who you are (again, it’s Disney its what they do, right?)

Kippa form Marjorie Liu’s Monstress

This badass-feminist-fighter-in-training needs her own little story, but maybe after Monstress is over. She is already growing into an independent person who wants the best for people but also has morals and a backbone. And she is the cutest thing around these days.

Inej for Leigh Bardugo’s Six of Crows

I mean, imagine this; Kaz has the man-flu, Inej has to run across town in the dead of night to break into a pharmacy to get him medicine, she makes a couple of other deals and ends up serving him chicken soup. I can just imagine the badass way she would approach that but she would also have a sweet and warm and caring approach in the end when she serves him the soup, but when he won’t eat it and picks a half-hearted fight she persuades him/convince/ makes a deal with him/ tries to force feed him/threatens him and then threaten to hurt herself if he doesn’t eat.

What do you think? Do you think any of these characters could use another story or their own story? Who else would you pick?

Let me know!
