This is one of my favourite tags! I did it last year and I really like how it kind of allows me review the year so far.
Best book you’ve read so far in 2019
It’s been a good year so far but still its a difficult question. There has been a lot of good books but if I have to limit myself to only a few then here are two:
Do You Dream of Terra-Two by Temi Oh (Review here)
The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco (Review here)
Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2019
Wicked King by Holly Black. This queen of writing really took me for a ride. I know why Cardan did what he did, but it still took me by surprise and I was shocked.
New release you haven’t read yet but want to
Only two books comes to mind for this, and one of them I have sitting on my shelf ready to be read 😊
I Wish You All The Best by Mason Deaver
Storm of Locust (#2) by Rebecca Roanhorse
Most anticipated releases for the second half of the year
Queen of Nothing by Holly Black. November release! I. CAN’T. WAIT.
Breaking the Lore By Andy Redsmith. I think I expected too much. (Review here)
Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo. I love Six of Crows, but this series is not living up to my expectations. I gave it 4 stars and I enjoyed the read, but still, it’s just not quite there.
Emily Eternal by M. G. Wheaton. WOW! Did I love this main character! I was totally srpriced by that. Emily is amazing! I read this book in two days! Full review here!
Favourite new author (debut or new to you)
Rin Chupeco! I love the way she wrote The Bone Witch and I can’t wait to read the rest of that series. And she’s got something new coming out this year too.
I also loved the way Temi Oh wrote in Do You Dream of Terra-Two? and how she focused on their mental health without lecturing. It was very fascinating.
Newest fictional crush
I don’t really crush on characters, but I do have a new ship: Rhy and Alucard 😍🥰
Newest favourite character
There have been a few but Tea from The Bone Witch is very high on that list. I’ve only read book one so I won’t search for fan art incase I come across a spoiler.
Emily from Emily Eternal is also high on that list. I love how she as an AI was portrayed and how she behaved, etc.
A book that made you cry
Lord of Shadows. I mean that was heartbreaking and I was sobbing.
A book that made you happy
One Con Glory by Sarah Kuhn. It was so cute! I couldn’t stop smiling 😁
Most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year (or received)
Six of Crows Special edition. Yeah, I splashed out. I had accumulated some Waterstones £ and spent them on this book. It’s pretty and I love the character art in the back. It is one of my favourite group of characters
What books do you need to read by the end of the year?
Storm of Locus (#2) by Rebecca Roanhorse
Wicked Fox (Gumiho #1) by Kat Cho
I’ve saved Storm of Locus for the biannual bibliathon as I read Trail of Lightning for last years round. Maybe I can read Wicked Fox for then too. I’ve pre-ordered it but it delivery time is being pushed back by Amazon…
