August TBR and reading plan ’19

I have a few days off work this month which I’ll spent at home and I’ll think I’ll do a readathon too.

Last month was BUSY!! This month I have actively taken some time off to enjoy my garden and to use my holiday days for myself for once.

It will be a chill month so I think I’ll participate in #FemmeFanTale which is a readathon all about female fantasy authors. It starts on the 18th August and is run by Jean from Bookiskthoughts on YouTube.

The links will take you to their GoodReads page for each book. If the book doesn’t have a GoodReads page, the link will take you to their Amazon page. They are not affiliated links.

Finish already!

Gutten (The Boy) by Jon Kalman Stefansson – The boy is still stuggling but at least it’s stopped snowing now πŸ˜‚ I have less than 100 pages left. I CAN DO THIS!

Book Club Book

Birthday by Meredith Russo – I borrowed If I Was Your Girl by Meredith Russo in June but never to got to it. I read 62 pages from it one evening because it was so easy to read, but it has now gone back to the library unfortunately. Birthday is her new book which is also our book club book at work. I still want to read If I Was Your Girl, but for now I’ll read Birthday and enjoy that πŸ™‚

ARCs that needs to be read

Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson – I have seen this book around . I don’t know much about it apart form it’s YA fantay, set in a library and contains badass women, which is sometimes all I need πŸ™‚

The Deathless by Peter Newman – I loved Peter Newman’s first book The Vagrant about a mute main character who caries a baby and a special sword across a dystopian world. It was so special and I loved it. I’ve seen Deathless around for a while as it came out last year. But when both Deathless and Ruthless (#2) popped up on NetGalley I pressed that request button and here I am…

The Undoing of Arlo Knott by Heather Child – I meet Heather a few months ago. She was interviewing engineers for her new novel and we talked a lot. I gave her a lot of info and her new story sounds very interesting. She always writes a little bit speculative. There is always something magical or unrealistic in her books. She gave me her first book “Everything About You” signed and everything! Though I have yet to read it, it looks really good. So when I saw the second book pop up on NetGalley I requested it straight away. I can’t wait to sit in on her panel during Bristol Con! She is so super nice!

Library books I want to get to

Black Leopard, Red Wolf by Marlon James – I wanted to pick this up when it came out but I never got around to it. I now picked it up from the library in audio format so we’ll see how it goes.

It’s Not About The Burqa edt by Mariam Khan – I will get this back from the library mid-month I think and I hope I can finish it or almost finish it. It’s a really interesting book and such an important insight into a world and viewpoint I don’t normally see. I want to learn!

Have you read any of these? What did you think?

What’s on your TBR this month?

Happy reading!

    1. Thanks! yeah, I hope so. I sound so good but I keep putting it off purely because I’m not in the mood for YA fantasy… But I know I will like it so why not just pick it up? πŸ€” I’m glad you are enjoying it tho 😊
