WWW Wednesday – 14th August ’19

I’ve had a great reading week!

Welcome to my WWW Wednesday meme post, originally hosted by Taking in a World of Words. All I need to do is answer the three questions below which all start with a W.

The three W’s are
  1. What are you currently reading?
  2. What did you recently finish reading?
  3. What do you think you’ll be reading next?

What I’m currently reading?

The Darkness by Ragnar Jonasson – I’m listening to this on audio and it’s quite good. It’s Icelandic crime and after The Boy Trilogy I feel like I need a bit more Iceland in my life.

Black Leopard, Red Wolf by Marlon James – I’m halfway though this and really enjoying it, but I have now decided to go over to ebook instead of audiobook. I have several audiobooks I need to get to and Black Leopard was the only one I could find with an ebook alternative via the library. Also it’s nice to have a map now which you don’t get with the audiobook format.

It’s Not About The Burqa edt by Miriam Khan – An anthology by Muslim women about Muslim women for once. They talk about Islam, feminism, sexism , faith and race. It’s very interesting and funny and heartwarming. Finally we get to hear their side of the story and not from the men, or from the non-Muslim community. I’m currently 1/4 through and it’s really good but I had to return it to the library and there is now a very long waiting list… I’m getting this back tomorrow and I hope to have time for it this weekend.

What I just finished?

Gutten (The Boy) by Jon Kalman Stefansson – I FINISHED! It was really good and weird and expressive and lyrical and amazing and different! And I just discovered it exists in English: Heaven and Hell by Jon Kalman Stefansson. Highly recommended and it’s about 200 pages! It’s only book 1 of the trilogy while I read the bind-up of the trilogy.

What I’m reading next?

This weekend it’s #FemmeFanTale or the female authors of fantasy readathon hosted by Jen over at Bookishthoughts. I will publish my TBR tomorrow so look out for that 🙂

until next time

    1. It’s almost like a short story collection where the short stories are based on the individual authors experience. So yes it’s non fiction but there are several authors and several themes and points of views. So no I don’t think this is a typical non fiction book but it’s not a fiction book either. Why not go to the library/bookshop and read a bit of it to see if it’s for you? I do recommend it though. There are some great insights in it 😊
