WWW Wednesday – 19th February 2020

I’ve survived two storms now and had enough. Good thing with storm is that you get reading time, negative thing is that the window leaks… hmph!

Welcome to my WWW Wednesday meme post, originally hosted by Taking in a World of Words. All I need to do is answer the three questions below which all start with a W.

The three W’s are
  1. What are you currently reading?
  2. What did you recently finish reading?
  3. What do you think you’ll be reading next?

What I’m currently reading?

Blood of Elves by Andrzej Sapkowski – I’m only 90ish pages in and surprised at how much I’m enjoying this! I didn’t expect that. I borrowed this book over a year ago from a friend and only now getting to it (I’m a bad friend…). It’s been a very long time since I read an adult high fantasy which could be one of the reasons I enjoy this so much. But there is just something about the story too that I really enjoy. Tess is a badass feminist talking the witchers down LOL!

The Rise of The Evening Star (Fablehaven #2) by Brandon Mull – I needed a lunchtime fae fix and this fit the bill. Its a middle grade story about Kendra who can see the fable creatures roaming this earth (faeries, goblins, etc). Her grandparents own a piece of land in the middle of nowhere where fable creatures roam free in full view and are protected. But the creature Kendra comes across is in her school not on the preserve. DRAMA! love it 🙂

The Girl Who Chose (Chess Raven Chronicle #2) by Viola Grace – I still haven’t finished this one. I only have 2h left but had no interest in audiobooks lately. I should just sit down and finish it… It’s still interesting en entertaining.

Jordmor pa Jorda by Edvind Hoem – ON HOLD – This is a slow read but very interesting. A mix between non-fiction and historical fiction. Very original.

What I just finished?

The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert – This had surprisingly high amount of horror elements in it. I didn’t expect the fae in here to be so gruesome. It was original but I’m not 100% I was sold on it. Unsure if I will continue with the series or not.

The Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman – I’m surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. I had no idea going in. It has an average GoodReads rating of 3.73 which is in the area were I never know if its good or not so I was majorly surprised. I will definitely continue with the series. I did not like it enough to buy it so I’ll check my local library if they have it first.

What I’m reading next?

It’s Faebruary readathon during February and my TBR contains several books I could read and some I should read. I have now run out of must reads and only have two short options left: Dreamfever and Peter Pan, so I’ll see which Im in the mood for when I finish my current reads.

Anyway I’m getting new windows which means I’m broke, but at least I have my allotment too keep me busy and away from shops…

Also there is another Silent Reading night coming up which should be nice and calming evening.

until next time

  1. Gruesome fae?! I think I have to put The Hazelwood a bit higher on my TBR list now, haha! Ever since reading The Queen of Nothing I feel like I could do with more awful fae in my bookish life.

[Also yes to those storms. I’m hoping it’ll be a while before the next one comes around..]

    1. Well they are not like fae. They are not called fae. they are just gruesom and evil. They are nothing like The Folk of Air. So just bear that in mind, ut definitely give it a go. Yeah fingers crossed for storm season to be over.

  2. Yes, those storms have been really annoying these past couple of weeks. Our house sits really exposed, so we get the full force of it. It’s the only time I hate our house!
I read The Invisible Library a while back and I wish I had loved it more!

I think I went in having low expectations and therfore liked it as much as I did. But we cant have it all unfortunately 🤷‍♀️
