All the people who planed to visit me have cancelled due to travel ban… good, that gives me more time to read π
March was a constant struggle to not have GoodReads tell me I was behind on my goal. I scraped by. By the end I was OK with being behind, but I hope I can make a big dent in the pile this month.
I managed 10 books in March; 2 of those were very small, and 4 were audiobooks. I felt I did OK actually.
Also in March my book club selected a new book to read. Our topic was Speculate Fiction which in itself is really wide. It’s a democracy in our book club even though I run it, but then again I am Norwegian and believe in the system (lol). After selecting a topic all members can come up with one suggestion of a book we should read and then we vote on it. This round of suggestion was amazing! So I decided to read them all π
I also have some ARCs left and several library books come through this month. Fingers crossed I managed to keep on top of it, but ARCs are more important.
I have yet to find something to read from my ebook shelf, but I need to find one that isn’t too long.
And then I decided to help an extroverted friend and buddy read a book.
This sums up to 12 books on my TBR…
I need a plan…
Let’s dive in!
The links will take you to their GoodReads page for each book. It the book doesn’t have a GoodReads page, the link will take you to their Amazon page. They are not affiliated links.
Book Club Suggestions
Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia – I heard Mexican folklore and the Mayan god of Death and signed up! no need for anything more. It was on the GoodReads Choice award in 2019, didn’t win but was shortlisted.
A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness – a re-read for me and the winner of the book club book selection process. I loved this book back when I originally read it. I think I need to stock up on tissues before I read it. Cried my eyes out the last time π
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern – I recently read The Starless Sea. It’s was original and magical but didn’t blow me away. Maybe this book will do that. Everyone is raving about it, but based on my previous experience with the author, I’m a bit reserved in my expectations.
The Man in The High Castle by Philip K Dick – This book has been on my shelves for years! I cant wait to finally read it and get it of the TBR shelf lol.
Who Fears Death? by Nnedi Okorafor – I love the cover to this book. It was my suggestion to this months book club. I knew it wouldn’t win but it was different from all the other ones and I had a copy as I went for it. I’m anticipating this to be a tearjerker too.

ARCs
The Girl and The Stars (Book of the Ice #1) by Mark Lawrence – I’ve wanted to read a Mark Lawrence book for a while having heard a lot of good things about the author. The Girl and The Stars is his first YA novel and I want to know who this is hence the eARC π Due out in the end of April.
Incendiary (Hollow Crown #1) by Zoraida Cordova – I’ve had my eye one this book since I first heard of it back in 2018 and trilled to gain an eARC for it. It’s also do out in the end of April so hopefully I can get it read and reviewed before that π
Physical TBR shelf
The Man in The High Castle has been on my physical shelf for years and I’m finally reading it. though I’ve listed it under Book Club Suggestions instead of here π Also Who Fears Death? has been on my shelf for about a year. So this month there are two books from my physical shelf π
E-Book TBR shelf
Dog Song by Mary Oliver – a poem collection about dogs… I don’t have a dog but I’ll read it anyway π

Library
Me by Elton John – autobiography by Elton John. After seeing and loving Rocketman I was obsessively listening to Elton John songs and the soundtrack to the movie. I then fell into a Bohemian Rhapsody obsession followed by Queen music… Do you see a trend? I have fallen out of both obsessions but I reserved this book during the Rocketmen obsession so here we are. I hope I don’t get obsessed again…
The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary – This book is everywhere so when I saw it pop up on my audiobook library app I reserved it hoping it would be a quick read. Fingers cross for something sweet, original and fast π – I have just made a start on this today so fingers crossed.
Buddy-reads
Not because I need more books to read, but I promised a friend of mine to buddy read this book when we are both isolating.
Gideon The Ninth (Locked Tomb #1) by Tamsyn Muir – it just sound funny and dark and great! I can’t wait to listen to this on audio π

Reading Challenge
The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas – This is my big read of the year! For the last three years I’ve read one 800+ page classic a year. It all started with Les Miserable, then Anna Karenina and last year was Gone With The Wind. However, in those previous years I started the book towards the end of the year leaving me to rush to finish it on New Years Eve. I have finish all those three long classics just before midnight every time. Three years running! I won’t have it this year! This year I’m starting yearly. And hopefully finishing in a decent time too. I hope to finish it sometime around summer so you’ll see this book a lot on my posts.
I didn’t manage to get started on this in March like I planned to. Maybe this month will be better…!
I need to make a start on this. If I can do single-digit progress on this book I will be very happy π

Have you read any of these? What did you think?
What’s on your April TBR?
Happy reading!

The Flatshare is amazing! One of my 5 star reads in March!

haha! yeah I find reading at lunch time difficult when I work from home so I’m missing out on that. Also somehow there is more work to do when I’m working form home. But I have found some space for reading π
