WWW Wednesday – 15th April 2020

This social isolation is doing nothing for my reading. I don’t understand why not…?

Welcome to my WWW Wednesday meme post, originally hosted by Taking in a World of Words. All I need to do is answer the three questions below which all start with a W.

The three W’s are
  1. What are you currently reading?
  2. What did you recently finish reading?
  3. What do you think you’ll be reading next?

What I’m currently reading?

Anything For You (Blue Heron #5) by Kristan Higgins – I’ve read most of Kristan Higgins books. I’m not a massive romance reader but I like one ever now and then. Reading The Man In The High Castle makes me really depressed so I needed something light and cheerful on the side. Also finishing The Flatshare last week left a craving for more cuteness. So here we are.

The Man In The High Castle by Philip K Dick – I’m 90 pages in. It’s quite depressing and sad – not the story itself but what the world has come to in this reality. It’s scary. It’s also a heavy read (writing wise) so it’s a slow progress, but !’m making my way through!

Jordmor pa Jorda by Edvind Hoem – ON HOLD – This is a slow read but very interesting. A mix between non-fiction and historical fiction. Very original. I should probably un-hold this now but I’m not ready yet. I need fast paced stuff right now and this doesn’t have that.

What I just finished?

Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir – this was a fun ride! It was not as funny as I anticipated but it was very entertaining. I buddy read this with a friend and she was disappointed about the lack of lesbian smut, but it was perfectly find with me. I didn’t see the ending coming and it made me a bit sad, but I definitely want to read the next book in the series.

And The Ocean Was Our Sky by Patrick Ness – didn’t plan to read this, but after finishing Gideon the Ninth I was in a real audiobook mood. I also needed something to listen to while digging the potato bed (LOL). This was short and sweet and fitted my needs. Its very original and well executed. Everything was turn up side down and the twist in the end was well entertaining!

What I’m reading next?

According to my TBR there is a lot to choose from but up next I’ll read A Monster Calls as it should become available from the library tomorrow.

until next time

    1. Its a re-read for me and yes I already loved it the first time around so I hope I still love it this time too. Im better prepared for the amount of crying involved this time too! This time I’ll be at home and listening to the audiobook, last time I was in an airport waiting to board a plane trying not to cry my eyes out LOL!
