WWW Wednesday – 24th June 2020

Work is interfering with my will to read

Welcome to my WWW Wednesday meme post, originally hosted by Taking in a World of Words. All I need to do is answer the three questions below which all start with a W.

The three Wโ€™s are
  1. What are you currently reading?
  2. What did you recently finish reading?
  3. What do you think youโ€™ll be reading next?

The Fascinators by Andrew Eliopulos – this is a unique read. Its like a YA contemporary with magic. I dont want to call is fantasy nor a magical realism as the magic is so normal and the book is more focused on the main characters relationship with his best friend. Not only is the main character gay and magical but he lives in south Georgia which adds the religious and anti-everything attitudes. I only have a few hours left on the audiobook so I’ll probably finish today.

The Left Hand of Darkness (Hainish Cycle #4) by Ursula K. LeGuin – Over halfway now and only have another 100+ pages to go ๐Ÿ™‚ whoop whoop!

Jordmor pa Jorda by Edvind Hoem – 34% in. No progress … I don’t have the heart to give it up, but I think I already have.

The Court of Miracles by Kester Grant – I dived into this straight after finishing Empire of Gold so this book had a lot to live up to… And somehow I really enjoyed it. There are issues with this book and I had a few more wishes for it that didn’t come true, but it was an enjoyable read. Its advertised as Les Miserable meets Six of Crows. Yes its got a lot from Les Mis both setting and characters. But the Six of Crows wasn’t there. I felt it was more reminiscent of Lies of Locke Lamora with the criminal underworld divided into sections and each having a lord. Full review to come ๐Ÿ™‚

According to my June TBR I have plenty to read even though its the last week of June already. I think I might have time for one more audiobook and maybe to start another physical but I don’t think ill finish it by the 30th.

until next time
