Don’t mind me, I’m just trying to finish everything before TomeTopple… but officially out of the slump 😉
Welcome to my WWW Wednesday meme post, originally hosted by Taking in a World of Words. All I need to do is answer the three questions below which all start with a W.
The three W’s are
- What are you currently reading?
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What do you think you’ll be reading next?
Death On The Nile by Agatha Christie – book club pick for August and here I am reading it last minute. Again…! Anyway. As with all Agatha Christie’s books it’s well written and interesting. And yes I’m trying to figure out who did it (I have three possibilities) even though I know I probably won’t be able to do it.. typical 😂 On a downside, I don’t like the way all Egyptians are completely excluded from the story. They are so far either refereed to as “black figures with outstretched hands”, “black faces” or stupid and in need for help from the white man. It’s annoying. It’s more annoying than the old school view of women and hysteria…
Who Fears Death? by Nnedi Okorafor – Hardly any progress since last week but I’m not giving up! Slowly making my way through it. I have about 110 pages left. It’s a really good book but it’s a bit heavy hence the slowness. I also think since I was heaving a reading slump while reading this, I’m a bit reluctant to read it again, so I do it in portions. It’s not the book, it’s me. I love the magic in here and how it works on several levels.
Seven Devils (#1) by Laura Lam & Elizabeth May – This is one of my most anticipated read of the year and I loved it! Review is due out tomorrow and so is the book (UK at least)!
The Freelance Bible by Alison Grade – Ignore my attempts to understand how to be independent of the corporate world. Making myself better is a journey. This book did have a lot of good ideas and tips about being a entrepreneur int he UK.
Hinch Yourself Happy by Mrs Hinch – I need to get on top of my cleaning in this house. I keep telling myself that “I don’t need to do that cause I’ll rip it up and replace it with something else next year…”. its bad for my health and my mental heath. So I read this book to see if I could get some cleaning tips and hacks. And I did. So much so that I’ve gone on an Amazon cleaning product spree and I also bought the actual book (only £6.49). There are several tips in here and the only tip I’ll be picking up first is list 3 things you would like to get done and do them. So everyday (ish) I will do 3 cleaning things. Instead of setting a whole day off for it and then not do it like I normally do. I hope one day I actually enjoy cleaning… !
I have plenty to get on with on my August TBR. But TomeTopple starts on Saturday so i’ll finish everything I’m currently reading then start a tome. Having said that (🤦♀️), there is a book that becomes available on the library audibook app tomorrow. If it does come through, I might try and speed read it before the readathon… 🤞
until next time
