I’ve started a lot of books but not really finished that many…
Welcome to my WWW Wednesday meme post, originally hosted by Taking in a World of Words. All I need to do is answer the three questions below which all start with a W.
It’s currently Gothtober and my TBR can be found here.
The three W’s are
- What are you currently reading?
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What do you think you’ll be reading next?

Sex and Lies by Leïla Slimani – who knew Morocco was so up tight? I always thought they were a bit more easy going that some other Muslim countries. But their laws are (according to the author) old fashioned and stuck in religion and mythology. Even though the population wants more freedom and behave freely, they can’t talk about it. The laws are mostly used to get rid of people you don’t want by snitching. It’s a really interesting book and I’ve just started it. It’s going to be filled with interviews of women and others in Morocco and tell their stories as well as the authors story and some research.
White Fragility by Robin DAngelo – this is another super interesting book. The author is white and has a long history in teaching white people about race and racism. I’m learning a lot. And not just by reading but by observing my reaction to new information. Do I get defensive? If so why? Etc. It’s very cool 😁
Archangel by Robert Harris – this is a book I started on in 2009. I got 120 pages in (the bookmark was still there) out of 420 pages. But by now I hardly remembered anything so I started at page 1 again. It’s as expected, and ok book. There are some macho male attitudes etc as expected. It’s an ok-ish book. I only have 80pages left so should finished shortly.
The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas – Started this during TomeTopple in August. It’s 52 hours long and by the end of the readathon I had 38 hour left. No progress since last week so I’ve still got 28 hours left 🙂

Akata Warrior (Akata witch #2) by Nnedi Okorafor – As expected I really enjoyed this book. It’s fun and dramatic at the same time. I enjoy Sunny as a main character and the journey she has been on. There are rumours about a third book in the series and I personally am totally down for that 😁

October TBR and Gothtober TBR are both filled to the brim with good books (or I hope they are good). I’m not sure which to pick next, but maybe I’ll pick up one of these;
until next time

Sex and Lies sounds so interesting! I always had a similar thought about Morocco as you, especially how the travel channels and foodie shows portray it. Will have to look into this. Happy reading 🙂

Yeah seems the Moroccan authorities wants to be both open and welcoming to westerners AND hold on to traditions and identity which just doesn’t work. Also we as tourists don’t get affected by it. Only Moroccans are affected by Moroccan law. Apparently. And yes it’s supper interesting and I highly recommend it 😁 Happy Reading to you too!

I have also been starting lots of books and not finishing them–I blame my mood entirely! May we both get some reading mojo soon!
