December TBR and reading plan 2020

I survived NaNoWriMo! But I think I’ll take it easy this month and enjoy myself

November was intense but not with reading. I only managed 2.5 books during the month of November. Mainly because my month was focused on NaNoWriMo and writing 50 000 words in 30 days. It was intense but I did it!

I have almost reached my GoodReads goal already (95 out of 100) and I hope December will be mostly mood picks so this TBR is very small to give me the freedom to pick whatever I want to read. I only have 4 books on here that I’m 100% sure I’ll read. The rest will be as I feel like it. I haven’t mood picked for a very long time and I’m very excited πŸ™‚

Let’s dive in!

The links will take you to their GoodReads page for each book. If the book doesn’t have a GoodReads page, the link will take you to their Amazon page. They are not affiliated links.

Vicious by V. E. Schwab – I’m halfway through this book. I’ll probably finish it very soon. Or I hope so. It was a buddy read with a friend during November, but due to NaNoWriMo I got way behind on my reading. My friend is already done so I need to finish asap!

Starsight (Skyward #2) by Brandon Sanderson – I borrowed this from a friend in July and haven’t gotten to it so December TBR it is. I hope MurderBot is just as fun as in the first book.

The Burning Gods (The Poppy War #3) by R. F. Kuang – another book I didn’t get two in the last two months. I do know its going to hurt so I have some reservations about it, but I need to get it read

The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas – This is my big read of the year! For the last three years I’ve read one 800+ page classic a year. It all started with Les Miserable, then Anna Karenina and last year was Gone With The Wind. However, in those previous years I started the book towards the end of the year leaving me to rush to finish it on New Years Eve. I have finish all those three long classics just before midnight every time. Three years running! I won’t have it this year! This year I’m starting yearly. And hopefully finishing in a decent time too. I hope to finish it sometime around summer so you’ll see this book a lot on my posts.

Update April: I didn’t manage to get started on this in March like I planned to. Maybe this month will be better…! I need to make a start on this. If I can do single-digit progress on this book I will be very happy πŸ˜€

Update May: This is the 3rd month I have it on my TBR without actually starting it… Though I have opened it and read part of the introduction… which isn’t saying much but hey! its a small step forward though I don’t count that as starting the book.

Update June: AAAAAARG!!! Just get started on it already!!!

Update July: ……………………………………………………………………..*eye roll* still not started. I might save it for TomeTopple in August tho.

Update August: oh yeah! i almost for got about this book. Maybe I should incorporate this into TomeTopple?

Update September: I only have 30 hours left! Yay! So that means I’ve done about 22 hours and 4 short hours away from halfway πŸ™‚

Update October: I only have 20 hours left!! Slow and steady progress πŸ™‚

Updater November: No progress since last month so I’m hoping to get some done during this month.

Updater December: Only 12 hours left πŸ™‚

Have you read any of these? What did you think?

What’s on your December TBR?

Happy reading!

  1. Great post. I need to read some of Sanderson’s work. I constantly see it recommended! I’ve never read the count of monte cristo but I would like to at some point

    1. I think Sanderson is totally worth a read πŸ™‚ I hope you do get to him at some point and that you like it πŸ™‚
Monte Cristo is one of those book that always ends up on the “at some point”-list. Its a very long book and you need feel its really worth it before you start.
