Wait! there is one one more week in February?!?! How did that happen??
Welcome to my WWW Wednesday meme post, originally hosted by Taking in a World of Words. All I need to do is answer the three questions below which all start with a W.
The three W’s are
- What are you currently reading?
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What do you think you’ll be reading next?
Interview with the Vampire (Vampire Chronicles #1) by Anne Rice – Waywardathon – It’s so longs since I read a proper adult fantasy and it’s weird how so very little happens. I’m so used to fast paced YA fantasy that this needed some getting used to. But I want to read more adult fantasy so I just need to get used to it asap. I’m now over halfway and enjoying it. I grown custom to the pacing and I hope to finish this soonish 🙂
The Only Good Indians by Stephen Graham Jones – Waywardathon – Horror isn’t really my thing but for the Waywardathon I picked this to fill the prompts “by an indigenous author”. It wasn’t really that scary but it was a bit creepy. I learned some stuff about rez living and attitudes. I was a good read and a surprise ending to me 🙂
Disfigured; On Fairy Tales, Disability and Making Space by Amanda Leduc -I learned a lot for reading this. For villainising facial scars to make villains and other bad guys have a reason for being bad usually within the disability spectrum. But aloes how we use disability language in our everyday life to highlight negative events. The entire book starts with how fairy tale started as a way to explain disability. Changelings what a reason to explain a baby born different or slow in developments and give the parents a reason for leaving the child out in the winter and hope for a better child he next time around. It was a good read. I got very inspired and had many imaginary arguments by myself lol!
My February TBR is filled with ARCs but my Wayward readathon TBR is also filled with a good mix of books. Now that I’ve realised I only have about a week left of the readathon and of February I need to make some priorities. A Court of Silver Flames came out yesterday and I had it on pre-order. I need to read that before anyone spoils it for me. Also the book club book The House of the Spirits is due to be read asap. Those two will be my main priority. But I think I can squeeze in an audiobook or two and maybe even a children’s book so I fulfil my need to read something of my long-term physical shelf. Then there are the library books that keeps coming in (e-library not physical), how do I fit them all in???
until next time
